Quanta Services faced challenges in fully utilizing the Cornerstone platform for training and development due to inconsistent platform use across its operating companies, skill gaps among administrators, and outdated training materials like a cumbersome PDF field guide.

Despite its expansive reach and resources, Quanta Services encountered several roadblocks in fully harnessing the potential of the Cornerstone platform for training and development:

  • Inconsistent Platform Use: Quanta’s various operating companies were not uniformly utilizing Cornerstone, with some relying more on traditional in-person training and manual documentation.
  • Administrator Skill Gaps: Many administrators lacked the training and system knowledge needed to effectively manage and leverage the Cornerstone platform.
  • Outdated Training Materials: The Crew Leadership Level 2 program depended on a cumbersome 59-page PDF field guide, which was difficult to manage, track, and update. This led to challenges in distribution, completion, and monitoring.

eSkillz partnered with Quanta Services to reimagine their Crew Leadership Level 2 program, making it more engaging, trackable, and accessible within the Cornerstone platform.

  1. Curriculum Development: We replaced the cumbersome PDF with an intuitive, interactive online experience, designed to streamline the learning process and enhance user engagement. Key elements included:
    • Fillable Forms and SCORM Packages: These were embedded throughout the curriculum to guide participants and ensure accurate tracking of progress.
    • Flexible Mentor Selection: Participants could choose mentors both within and outside Quanta, catering to the needs of their dispersed workforce.
    • Interactive Leadership Style Quiz: We transitioned the manual score tallying process into an easy-to-use, Excel-based tool, simplifying how participants identify their leadership style.
  2. User Experience Enhancement: The new curriculum was crafted to maintain the familiar look and feel of the original PDF while introducing modern tracking mechanisms, reducing the learning curve and increasing efficiency.
  3. Supervisor Involvement: We introduced a new supervisor review process, allowing supervisors to monitor participant progress throughout the year, rather than only at the program’s end. This change fostered timely feedback and continuous improvement.
  4. System Configuration and Support: eSkillz worked closely with Quanta to resolve system configuration challenges, enabling key features like approval workflows and security roles, ensuring a smooth rollout of the revamped training program.
